Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to give basic knowledge of Austrian national, international and European private international law. Good knowledge of substantive civil law is required, as well as very good knowledge of the German language, because the lecture will be held entirely in German.
Towards the end of the course, students should be able to solve a simple cross-border case.
Students will be introduced to the subject matter by means of concrete examples.
It is requested that all correspondence be addressed exclusively to paul.lorenz.eichmueller@univie.ac.at.

Assessment and permitted materials

Performance is assessed within the module examination in Civil Law and FÜM II. Towards the end of the semester, the possibility of a mock exam is offered.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In the mock exam, the applicable law for a hypothetical case with an international connection is to be determined.

Examination topics

The mock exam will cover the basics of private international law applicable in Austria, as covered in the lecture.
