Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar provides an in-depth examination of the legal method. To this end, methodological approaches of modernism and postmodernism will be discussed on the basis of classical, representative texts and their references and discontinuities will be analysed. It will be analysed which fundamental conceptions of language are connected to the respective pratices. The theoretical examination of legal method is intended to deepen the ability to critically analyse methods.
Assessment and permitted materials
Each student gives a presentation of approx. 20 minutes based on a PowerPoint presentation; participation in the subsequent discussions.
Diploma students who wish to write a diploma seminar paper (DSA): A DSA is an independent scientific achievement of individual students, which must fulfil the following requirements:
The DSA should comprise at least 50,000 characters, excluding table of contents, list of abbreviations and bibliography. A DSA can only be written after submission of a letter of motivation and consultation with Prof. Kühler.
The use of AI tools is not generally prohibited, but these may only be used as aids and their use must be indicated in the thesis.

- For diploma students: Success in writing a seminar paper according to the specifications of the ‘Checklist for Academic Work’, which you can find on Moodle.
