Continuous assessment of course work

Conflict of laws deals with international aspects of private law relationships. The focus will be on commercial law matters such as company law, commercial contracts and intellectual properties. We will discuss cases decided by different national courts and the European court, which involved conflicts between different legal systems, legal values and traditions. Above all, we will have a look at Austria, German and English decisions. Differences between civil and common law traditions will be part of the lecture. It is a course for students for whom conflict of laws is a new subject as well as for students on an advanced level.
