Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Annotation:
In this course prof. L. Didžiulis will explore selection of advanced themes and contemporary challenges within the evolving landscape of private law in Europe. The work delves into foundational and practical aspects of civil law, beginning with the philosophical examination of the theory of justice and its functional interplay with the civil law. It further outlines the framework principles governing European property law, offering insights into the structural underpinnings of typical property rights. The concept of "civil fruits" is analysed through both in rem (real rights) and in personam (personal rights) perspectives, highlighting their dual nature in legal relationships. The efficiency of contracts is addressed as a critical factor in ensuring robust legal and economic interactions, while the impact of digitalisation on European private law reflects the adaptation of traditional doctrines to modern technological advancements. Finally, the discussion of civil liability for damages arising from investment losses provides a focused look at accountability and remedies in financial disputes.
