Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the exercise, civil procedural law and its international references are discussed by solving practice-relevant cases with the cooperation of the students. The main focus is on the proceedings; in addition, the main features of the execution and insolvency proceedings are dealt with. Careful preparation for the practice units on the basis of the cases provided in advance is indispensable, as knowledge of the material already covered is required for later practice units as well as for both examinations.

For preparation purposes, the exercise cases will be made available online on Moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participants have the following options to perform in the exercise: Participation, written examination, impulse presentation or other scientific contribution (such as a poster presentation or a decision memo). All available aids, in particular (current) legal texts, but also commentaries, databases, journals, etc. are permitted for the above-mentioned options. In this way, legal media competence can be trained at the same time. This also applies to the online examinations ("open book"). Participants who agree to give a keynote presentation are encouraged to at least cursorily research the literature and/or case law.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students are entitled to an exercise certificate if two of the above-mentioned performance options (participation, written examination, impulse presentation, other academic contribution) are fulfilled. The final grade is then calculated from the arithmetic mean, whereby cooperation can improve the final grade. Details on the grading system will follow.

Examination topics

The material for the exam basically covers the topics covered in the exercise. Thematic restrictions will be announced separately.
