Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will be of interest to students and practitioners wanting to acquire an up-to-date understanding of current policy and issues in family law around the world and anyone with an interest in family law, comparative law and social policy. The course focuses on family law issues in a comparative and international context.Topics may include: property and maintenance on divorce; the grounds for divorce; the legal status of cohabitants; legal regulation of adult relationships and changing family constructs; marital agreements (i.e. pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and separation agreement), the relevance of gender in family law and changing one's legal gender; parenthood and parental responsibility.Prior knowledge of family law or comparative law is NOT required. Active student participation is expected, and the course will include research assignments, group work and student presentations.

Reading list
For all sessions mandatory and voluntary additional reading will be set. Participants are expected to have done the mandatory reading in advance to be able to participate and discuss the material. A course reader with references to all reading material will be provided.

A very significant student discount has been negotiated for students of this course, bringing the price down to approximately 99 British Pounds.
