Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course aims at training students to apply principles of EU law to real life situations. The course wants to achieve this objective by analysing selected judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The course mainly covers constitutional principles of EU law, judicial protection of EU rights and EU internal market law, as well as (to a more limited extent) cases relating to the AFSJ and the CSFP.
Assessment and permitted materials
Mr Wollmann will grade the performance of the students in their presentations. In addition, students who actively participate in the discussion of other cases in the class will receive a plus, thus improving their final grade.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are required to be enrolled on U:Space, at least on the waiting list.
Examination topics
The course will cover all areas included in Mr Wollmann's description of the scope of his exams in EU law, plus fundamentals concerning the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice and the Common Security and Foreign Policy.
Reading list
The course takes a basic knowledge of the functioning of the EU institutions and decision-making procedures for granted . Students who have not previously attended any class of EU law are encouraged to read one of the textbooks presented by Mr Wollmann in the introductory meeting.
