Aims, contents and method of the course

The content of the course is the following topics: Conflict terms - Typology of conflicts (systematics according to the object of the dispute - appearance - characteristics) - Functions of conflict behavior - Humans as biological, social and mental beings - Content-related diagnosis (goals-course-parties-positions-basic conflict attitude) - the organization as conflict potential (identity-strategy-organizational structure-dependencies) - subsystems of the organization (social-technical-cultural) - systems of the escalation phases (Glasl, Kahn, Wright, Pondy) - methods of conflict handling - strategy models of conflict handling - possibilities of influencing conflict resolution.
Further content will be based on the interests of the students within the framework of the time available.

Attendance, active participation, fulfillment of the tasks to be processed using e-learning, exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of the course is to convey theory and practice (with exercises) for analyzing conflict situations. The participants should be able to analyze conflicts in such a way that appropriate models of conflict management can be selected for conflict clarification or settlement.
