Aims, contents and method of the course
The Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, organized by the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the University of Oxford, challenges students worldwide to engage with cutting-edge issues with a focus on freedom of expression.Participants conduct research on legal standards across national, regional, and international jurisdictions, developing written submissions and presenting oral arguments on issues in media and information, communication and technology (ICT) law.The competition currently consists of six Regional Rounds, with qualifying teams advancing to the International Round in Oxford. This competition offers a unique opportunity for law students to prepare for future careers in this dynamic field.A team of 2-6 students will represent the University of Vienna at this prestigious event. The European Regional Round will take place in February 2025. Assessment and permitted materials
Individual evaluation and grading based on the written and oral performance during the preparation for the competition.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course is open for all students who have a strong interest in ICT-law, media law and fundamental rights and want to improve their presentation techniques and English skills.
Examination topics
Coaching of the participants in writing the memorials and in preparing for the pleadings by training of presentation techniques. The focus will be on ICT-law, media law and fundamental rights.
