Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The class will analyse the legal instruments that justified the possession of overseas territorie by European colonial powers, and the dispossession of native peoples.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In the second part of the class,students will analyse how contemporary human rights and international law can now underpin the recovery of indigenous peoples` rights.
Examination topics
Introductory lectures, in the second part of class case studies by students.
