Aims, contents and method of the course

Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) is a key feature of international arbitration and international investment law, and has become an essential field of study for all those who are interested in the practice of international law. The course begins with introducing the key substantive elements of the discipline and will then focus on an in-depth examination of investor-state dispute settlement, including its reform efforts and the reason thereof. The course will include a thorough analysis of the fundamental case-law of ISDS will use role-play to deepen the understanding and appreciation of the discipline by students.

Assessment and permitted materials

Grading will be based on class participation, a class exercise and a take-home exam.
