Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture is the continuation of the lecture "Völkerrecht II - Grundlagen und Quellen" (030025 VO) of the winter semester. It takes up some core areas of international law and discusses them against the respective historical and political backgrounds as well as on the basis of concrete cases. At the beginning, the subjects of international law are discussed (part II: international organisations, the individual, other subjects of international law). Further topics are the prohibition of the use of force, the prohibition of intervention, the peaceful settlement of disputes, the international protection of human rights, immunities and privileges, international economic law, international regimes beyond national borders (the law of the sea, the law of the polar regions, the law of outer space), international responsibility, international criminal law, the international legal status of Austria since 1918.
Assessment and permitted materials
The lecture forms part of the examination topics of the oral exam in public international law in the diploma study as well as in the IREWI study, which will be the subject matter of the exam.
For all Erasmus students and students from other faculties a written online-exam will take place from 21 June 2022. In order to register for the exam please send an e-mail to Brigitte Weidinger (Brigitte.weidinger@univie.ac.at) under specification of your name, student ID number and e-mail address, between the 1 June and 10 June 2022. Registration is absolutely necessary in order to take the exam!
