Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to develop an awareness of the importance of strategic communication via classic media and new communication channels, which are increasingly used by defence lawyers in court proceedings. What are the effects of these measures and how can professional and lay judges as well as public prosecutors and investigators counteract them?
Based on the scientific findings on journalistic court reporting and litigation PR as well as the concepts of courts and public prosecutors' offices on the topic of public relations and on practical examples from recent years, the problem areas and possible solutions will be discussed intensively.
The students will develop presentations based on provided literature, which will then be debated in depth.
The topics are assigned at the first meeting. There, the course instructor will also give some hints on how to design the student presentations in such a way that they lead to intensive and sustained discourse.
