Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Preparation for each session and active participation in class; group presentation; written exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Demonstrated preparation and active participation in class (20 per cent); group presentation (30 per cent); final written exam (50 per cent).
Examination topics
Topics addressed in class, as reflected in slides and in the required readings.

Topics include tangible and intangible cultural heritage; the protection of cultural heritage on land and sea, in peacetime and during armed conflict; the world heritage list & other listing procedures; UNESCO-ICOM-ICOMOS-Blue Shield; dispute settlement and international criminal law responses to violations of norms on the protection of cultural heritage; restitution.
The course will be taught interactively, using a combination of lectures, student presentations and class discussions.
