Aims, contents and method of the course

Die Studierenden erlangen ein grundlegendes Verständnis dafür, wie in Unternehmungen optimale finanzwirtschaftliche Entscheidungen getroffen werden. Der erste Teil des Kurses befasst sich mit Investitionsentscheidungen unter Unsicherheit, der zweite Teil mit Finanzierungsentscheidungen.

Voraussetzung:
Positiv absolvierte Einführungsvorlesung "VO ABWL Finanzwirtschaft 1".

Assessment and permitted materials

Laufende Mitarbeit (20%) sowie einer Zwischen- und Endklausur (jeweils 40%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Der Kurs gilt dann als positiv absolviert, falls die insgesamt erbrachte Leistung mehr als oder gerade 50% der insgesamt möglichen Leistung ausmacht. Ist x die erbrachte Leistung in %, so ergibt sich die Note gemäß:

Sehr gut (1), falls x >= 87.50%
Gut (2), falls 75.00% <= x < 87.50%
Befriedigend (3), falls 62.50% <= x < 75.00%
Genügend (4), falls 50.00% <= x < 62.50%
Nicht genügend (5), falls 0.00% <= x < 50.00%

Aim, content, and methodology
The aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the main features of modern capital market theory, and an introduction to corporate finance. Whilst the lectures will convey an introduction to the relevant theories, students are expected to apply the material in selected exercises.

Successful completion of: “VO ABWL Finanzwirtschaft I”.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students' grades are based on class participation and on two open-book exams, a midterm exam and a final exam. The results are weighted with 20% class aprticipation, 40% midterm, and 40% final exam.

Both exams are open-book. It is not possible to retake the midterm exam or the final exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Successful participation
This course is “pru¨fungsimmanent”. For successful completion, the following requirements need to be satisfied.

The lectures are accompanied by a total of 6 short online tests (eKKs). In each eKK, 20 points can be obtained; only the 5 best eKKs will be counted towards the final grade.
Attention should be paid to the fact that knowledge of the introductory course “VO ABWL Finanzwirtschaft I” is obligatory. This means, in particular, that material from the VO may be tested as part of the eKKs.
• The total weights of the eKKs towards the final grade is 15 %.
• There will be an online exam which will also be weighted with 15 % towards the final grade of the course.
The written Midterm and Final examination are regular (i.e. not online) tests and will be weighted with 30 % (Midterm) and 40 % (Final examination) towards the final grade. Notice that ALL EXAMS of the English– speaking groups for this course will ONLY be available in English.

The Final grade will be calculated as the weighted average of the results in the eKKs, the online examination, and the written midterm and final examinations. The course will be completed successfully if the achieved points are above or equal to 50 % of the total attainable points.

Aims, contents and method of the course

The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of how to make optimal corporate financial decisions. The first part of the course deals with investment decisions under uncertainty, the second part covers financing decisions.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students' grades are based on the total number of points earned on two open-book exams, a midterm exam and a final exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course is then considered to have been positively completed if the total performance achieved is more than or just 50% of the total possible performance. If x is the achieved performance in %, the grade results according to:

Very good (1), if x >= 87.50%.
Good (2), if 75.00% <= x < 87.50%
Satisfactory (3), if 62.50% <= x < 75.00%
Satisfactory (4), if 50.00% <= x < 62.50%
Unsatisfactory (5), if 0.00% <= x < 50.00%
