Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Welfare economics provides normative guidance for the design and evaluation of public policy. This is done with the use of formal microeconomics concepts, empirical and experimental analysis. It often aims to balance efficiency with equity considerations. The present course covers topics in welfare economic theory and its applied tool kit.

Assessment and permitted materials

The final grade will be based on attendance and active class participation (10%), regular exercises, group discussions and short essays (40%), and a final exam (50%). The final exam will take place on the last day of the course in June.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a minimum passing grade, students must satisfactorily complete all three assessment aspects (active participation, assignments, and final exam) and attain at least 50% of total points.

Examination topics

All contents and material presented in class and made available on the course platform.
