Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the module is to enable students to solve business problems independently using the methods and concepts learned in the bachelor's program.
The aim of the lecture "Introduction to Academic Work" is to impart the methodological skills necessary to work on a bachelor thesis.
Specific learning objectives of the lecture are:
- Getting to know the basics of scientific theory;
- To enable students to find adequate topics and scientific questions for their bachelor theses;
- Ability to research, evaluate and process scientific literature in the field of business administration;
- Developing an understanding of the methodological diversity in business research;
- Becoming familiar with the basic rules of argumentation and scientific writing;
- Stimulating critical examination of one's own work/thesis.

The course is delivered in the form of a lecture with interactive didactic elements. Online teaching videos will also be used.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination (multiple choice test)

The exam lasts 20 minutes and contains 20 single-choice questions. One of the four possible answers is correct.

Please note that you must register for the exam via U:SPACE. By registering for the lecture, you are NOT automatically registered for the exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grade distribution:
0 to 49.99% - grade 5, 50 to 62.99% - grade 4, 63 to 74.99% - grade 3, 75 to 86.99% - grade 2, 87 to 100% - grade 1.

Examination topics

Exam material is the content of the lecture, textbook and instructional videos.
