Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of the course is an introduction to basic macroeconomics. Students acquire a basic understanding of macroeconomic questions, terminology, and economic policy. Students are introduced to a basic general equilibrium model based on which they learn to derive conclusions for fiscal and monetary policy. By the end of the course, students can critically reflect on the theories covered in class and are able to assess economic policy measures.

The course consists of three main building blocks:
1. Macroeconomic Accounts
2. Economic Growth
3. Business Cycles
Method:
The lecture will be held online (live). A teaching assistant will give an additional tutorial, where practical exercises are discussed.
