Good knowledge of microeconomics at least at the level of ?Mikroökonomie für Studierende der Volkswirtschaftslehre? (e.g. Varian, Intermediate Microeconomics) and a thorough level of econometrics (e.g. Green, Econometric Analysis) is required.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is an introduction to the empirics of international trade at the graduate
(=master) level. We will discuss different (micro) econometric techniques and how they
can be applied to study questions in international trade. No previous knowledge of trade
theory is required, but good command of econometrics is necessary.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation will be based o a midterm exam (40%), an oral presentation (30%) and a term
paper (30%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goal of the course is to make students familiar with the most common empirical
methods used in modern international trade.

Examination topics

The first part of the course will have a lecture structure, while in the second part students will present empirical studies.
