Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course aims at introducing the students to the basic contents of macroeconomics. By the end of the course, students are expected to have acquired a basic understanding of what factors drive economic growth, what causes business cycle fluctuations, how the financial sector operates, and how nominal and real exchange rates are determined in global markets.
The course consists of five main building blocks:

1. Macroeconomic Accounts
2. Economic Growth
3. Business Cycles
4. Financial Sector (if time permits)
5. Open Economy and Exchange Rates (if time permits)

The lecture comprises 4 hours per week covering mainly theory and examples. There will be an additional tutorial, where practical exercises are discussed.
