Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The VK "Organization and Human Resources - Subtopic Organization" details the contents of the accordant EK which is also a prerequisite for attending the course. In the first part the emergence of organisations and basic alternatives for structuring organizations will be repeated (e.g. organization charts, single-line und multiple-line system; matrix-organization, etc). Thereupon will be given an overview on classical theories of Organizational Design (Mintzberg's Fives, Contingency Theory, Transaction Cost Theory, etc.) as well as newer approaches (virtual organizations, network organizations, etc). Furthermore, sample calculations on governing and coordinating decentralised structures will be presented.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The objective of this course is to impart competent knowledge in organization and human resources by practically applying and detailing the basic theoretical contents acquired in the EK.
Examination topics
At the beginning of each lesson a short overview of the relevant theoretic content is given. However, the course places emphasis on student participation. Working on case studies and sample calculations, students practically apply and detail the basic theoretical contents acquired in the EK.
Reading list
Die LV baut auf dem Skriptum des EK "Organisation und Personal" auf. Weitere vertiefende Literatur wird in der Lehrveranstaltung bekannt gegeben.
