Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Course Summary: This microeconomics course provides an overview of the microeconomic theory that forms the basis for most other areas in economics. The course provides the theory, but also shows how the theory can be applied to real world examples/cases. The course deals with the classic content of microeconomics: how consumers make consumption choices, how producers make production choices, and how the market coordinates these choices. Welfare properties of perfectly competitive market allocations are also discussed.Format: The topics of the course will be presented by the lecturer. Problem sets will be distributed regularly through the course website and in the tutorials. Problem sets will be graded.Lectures: there are four hours of lectures and two hours of exercise classes (tutorials) every week.
Assessment and permitted materials
Grading will be as follows. There will be one midterm on April 27 (40%) and one final exam on June 27 (45%). The homework grade will count for 15%. There will be a retake exam in the beginning of September. The retake is on the material of the final exam and is open only to students who took part in the June exam. If a student takes the retake exam, then this grade counts and replaces the June grade.
