Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The main focus of the course is the introduction into
relevant areas of Austrian private law. Primarily it is focusing on contract law, tort law and property law.

The students develop a general understanding of the main features of private law. They are able to discuss classic private law cases and recognize economically relevant contexts.

The lecture takes place digitally, the written exam with open questions are in presence.

Assessment and permitted materials

The written course examinations "Grundzüge des Rechts" are held in presence in German with open questions (90 minutes); only uncommented editions of the law may be used for the examinations.
Permissible are: Underlining; highlighting etc and pure paragraph references.

"Post-its" are generally allowed, but must be unlabeled!!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, short-term changes in the examination modus (switch to online exams) may be possible. The duration of the online exam is 60 minutes in that case.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A total of 60 points can be achieved in the exam; To pass the exam, 31 points or more are needed.
Clef: From 31 points - 4; from 39 points - 3; from 47 points - 2; from 55 points - 1.

Please note that according to § 13f Abs 2 Z 1 Satzungsteil Studienrecht Universität Wien Turnitin is used to detect plagiarism and your consent is required for this. In particular, the use of a law text with notes and comments or labeled post-its is considered unauthorized in presence exams.

Students have the opportunity to collect three bonus points via our learning app "MooDuell". The exact modalities can be found in the Moodle course.
Full points can be achieved even without the bonus points. A negative assessment cannot become positive through the bonus points.
