Aims, contents and method of the course

Business Process Management focuses on methodological competencies for the analysis, implementation, improvement, simulation and continuous management of business processes. Students, through paradigms and case studies, will familiarize themselves with the latest Business Process Management languages (e.g. BPMN) and the application of BPM in various domains such as health care, industry, banking, trade market, finance, e-Government, etc.
The main objective of the course is the identification of challenges inside an organization, regarding the business processes and the optimization of these processes. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to recognize the benefits and the profits for the organization upon effective application of various Business Process Management techniques.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The performance assessment in the BPM course is based on the following:
Group project: max. 30% (including Presentations)
Practical exam: max 30%
2 theoretical assessments: max. 30%
Active participation: max. 10%

In total, 50% must be achieved for a positive grade.

Examination topics

The course consists of lectures that provide basic knowledge, in-depth analytical exercises, presentations, and case studies.
To be noted, the content of the discussions during the course will also be taken into account for the formulating of the exams' agenda, as well as the script and other materials provided via Moodle.
