Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
1. Homework (15%):
On Mondays, when new units of the course are released, homework assignments are also provided in Moodle. The solutions to these are to be uploaded to Moodle by the next Monday (or a later Monday if holidays or other events postpone the timetable) and a cross list of the solved tasks is to be is to be ticked in Moodle. On Monday the homework will be discussed during the lecture. Individual students will be selected to present their solution to the homework. The course has an immanent examination character, i.e. attendance is compulsory during the live sessions. Scores/Grades are awarded according to the homeworks handed in and ticked as well as the presentation of the homework when selected to present.2. Midterm test (40%):
Around the middle of the course there will be a written examination of the contents discussed up to that point.3. Excel test (15%):
Since one focus of the course is on solving examples with the Excel Solver, there will be an Excel test at the end of the course in which one or more examples have to be solved applying the Excel Solver.4. End test (30%):
At the end of the course there is a written examination of the contents. The focus is on the contents that were presented after the intermediate test.

The aim of this course is to deepen and expand the knowledge acquired in the lecture Production and Logistics I. The students are introduced to problems/models from the field of production and logistics in order to independently analyse problems and solve them with appropriate quantitative methods.Content of the course:
Introduction to LP Modelling
Traveling Salesman Problem: heuristic and exact solution methods, LP model
Multi-period programme planning for multiple product and multiple capacity types, LP model
Demand forecasting
Material requirements planning: Stochastic models, newsvendor problem
Lot size planning: Exact solution methods for deterministic, dynamic single-product models
Scheduling: Acceleration within network plans, LP model
Production scheduling, machine scheduling. The course consists primarily of lectures in which the theory is discussed, reviews of the homework in which the most significant/frequent errors of the students are addressed, and Excel tutorials. These take place partly live in Moodle and partly via recordings.
Essential components of the course are also the solving of homework exercises, which are not compulsory but included in the assessment and can be seen as preparation for the exams, and the use of Excel, as Excel is part of the homework exercises and an exam.
