Aims, contents and method of the course

Course Overview
The primary aim of the Bachelor seminar is to prepare students to write research texts in preparation for their Bachelor theses. The course begins with choosing a topic for the potential seminar paper and ends with submitting and presenting the same. The course is divided into two important segments as follows.
(I) Choosing a topic, writing an extended abstract
Deadline for the submission of the topics for the Bachelor thesis: 08.04.2024 (1-2 pages)
Feedback session for the abstracts: 11&12.04.2024
Deadline for the submission of Synopsis/Extended Proposals along with the list of the literature: 29.04.2024 (4-5 pages)

(II) Bachelor Thesis
In their bachelor thesis, the participants are expected to demonstrate a profound knowledge of the chosen topic. Based on a thorough literature review, students summarise their findings and furnish their perspectives on the chosen topic.

The deadline for the interim submission of the bachelor papers: 06.06.2024 (end of day).

Presentation of Bachelor Papers: 10-14.06.2024

Deadline for final submission of the Bachelor papers: 15.08.2024

The abstracts and bachelor's papers will be submitted electronically, through Moodle. The relevant submission links will pop up on the course page in Moodle in due course.

The deadline for submission of bachelor's papers is final and cannot be negotiated.

Assessment and permitted materials

Bachelor Thesis (70%)
Presentation and class participation (30%)
Minimum length of the thesis (without references): 30 pages
Deadline for submission: 15. August 2024

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To successfully complete the course, the following requirements must be met adequately.
1. At least 75% attendance in the course meetings
2. Submission of the Bachelor Paper
3. Presentation of the Bachelor Paper

NOTE: IT IS POSSIBLE TO WRITE BACHELOR PAPER ONLY IN ENGLISH IN THIS GROUP.

Reading list

The primary resource (or learning material) would be articles published in top-tier journals discussing key aspects of the various phenomena enumerated in the above sections. Students are required to conduct a literature search and review for their respective term papers. David and Han's (2004) methodology for searching relevant literature using academic databases could help the students find the most relevant and appropriate literature for their respective term papers. The course material will explain the use of David and Han's (2004) methodology.

Course Overview
Every student who writes a bachelor thesis (in English - no other language is possible) must attend the BA seminar and deliver a presentation on the topic of the thesis (presentation time: 20-30 minutes) as well as to write a seminar paper. The course proceeds in three stages as outlined in the following;

Deadline for the submission of the topics for the Bachelor thesis: 25.03.2024 (1-2 pages)
Final submission of the extended proposal: 05.04.2024 (3-5 pages)

(II) Presentations
Final proposals are to be presented between 08.04.2024 - 17.06.2024
Presentation time: 20 - 30 minutes
The PowerPoint slides must be sent to the lecturer at least one day before the presentation.
(III) Bachelor Thesis
Deadline for the Submission of the Bachelor theses: 15.09.2024
The deadline for submission of Bachelor Thesis is final and cannot be negotiated.

The course is designed to be interactive. Therefore, class participation would be valued.
