Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to improve the student's pronunciation of Chinese words and sentences, with focus on the correct tone, pause and stress. Pronouncing sentences correctly and fluently will be a special focus of this semester.
The course will be held on-site.

Assessment and permitted materials

During the course, you will listen and imitate the pronunciation of the audio-material related to the "new words" and "dialogues" of the textbook "Practical Chinese."
There will be exercises for listening, stress, pauses, difficult tone combinations, etc., done together in class.
Moreover, there will be individual pronunciation corrections done 1:1, with concrete feedback on your pronunciation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance rate and participation in class: 10%
Dictations: 20%
Midterm exam: 30%
Final test: 40%

You need to reach at least a total score of 60% to pass.
