Aims, contents and method of the course

Assessment and permitted materials

class participation (10%), paper presentation (20%), term paper (20%), final exam (50%)

For presentation students are supposed to choose an article from the list (to be distributed) and present it. (articles not on the list may be presented but have to be approved by instructor).

Term paper should be related to one of the topics covered in class. A one-page proposal needs to be submitted by May 23rd. The term paper has to be submitted by June 27th.

4-5 problem sets will be distributed. Solving them in class will be graded as part of class participation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

We will cover important economic models of innovation, diffusion of technology, intellectual property protection and network effects.
