Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This class teaches the basic issues of contract theory and the economics of asymmetric information. The following issues will be treated:
- monopolistic screening
- adverse selection and the lemons problem
- competitive screening
- signalling
- moral hazard

Assessment and permitted materials

The course will be graded by:
- one midterm exam (40%)
- one final exam (45%)
- online class participation (15%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students need to obtain a weighted average of 50% on the aforementioned elements.

Examination topics

The midterm exam will cover all class material up until the time of the midterm exam. The final exam will cover the material of the entire class.

Reading list

Mas Colell, Whinston and Green: Microeconomic Theory, as well as class notes and selected journal articles.
