Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to provide an introduction to digital economics in markets, enabling students to understand and critically evaluate current developments, policy discussions, and regulations.

Most of the course will consist of formal analysis and modeling of digital markets, but we will also discuss several recent trends and case studies.

It is highly recommended that introductory courses in microeconomics and game theory be successfully completed before taking this course. The course is intended for advanced students in the BA in Economics.

- Replication, copyright, and streaming services
- Tracking, privacy, and data
- Verification and reputation mechanisms
- Network effects
- Platforms and intermediaries

Assessment and permitted materials

The Assessment of the Course will depend on:
40% Exam
40% Presentation
20% Class Participation

The exam takes place on May 19th, 2025, during the normal lecture hours. Presentation dates will be scheduled during the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To pass the course, a minimum level of 50% has to be reached.
