Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to introduce you to the elementary concepts and frameworks used in strategy analysis helping you to understand and assess the organizational environment and a firm's internal organization impact on corporate performance.
The course will also touch upon the basic ideas of corporate and global strategy (corporate scope, vertical integration, diversification, internationalization).
Finally, it will revisit some of the current trends in strategy research.

Mind that attendance to this course is not mandatory, hence if you are present, it is expected from you to participate in the discussion and thus contribute to the overall learning experience of the class.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written closed form individual Final Exam (100%) at the end of the course. The usage of written aids for the exam (open book) is only permitted for online exams. In general, the exam aims to assess your ability to apply, analyze, synthesize, compare/contrast or evaluate information.

Note: additional registration for the exam is needed (via U:SPACE). Details will be explained during the lecture.

Grading scheme:

The course is primarily based on the book of Grant, Robert M. (2019) "Contemporary Strategy Analysis: Text and Cases", John Wiley & Sons (10th Edition).
