Aims, contents and method of the course
In this seminar, participants learn how togive a scientific presentation,contribute to an academic discussion (by asking questions, answering questions and making comments),prepare and write a seminar paper, which includes getting to knowo literature search,o standards of academic honesty ando rules of referencing and citation.The seminar will focus on sector-specific problems in public utility management with a special focus on the interaction between regulation and management. Participants will learn to consider, to analyse and to solve sector-specific problems in public utility management.The seminar will start with a detailed introduction into the topics and methods relevant to the seminar by the tutor. Then participants will write seminar papers and will give presentations. The presentations of other participants are commented on and discussed. This enables everyone to receive detailed feedback.There will be online communication via "Zoom".
Assessment and permitted materials
Participants will have to give online presentations based on their respective presentation slides, they have to participate actively in the seminar (by asking questions, answering questions, making comments), and they will have to write a seminar paper.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The grade of a participant depends on his/her presentation (30%), his/her active online participation (30%), and his/her seminar paper (40%).The presentation slides to be created should summarise the essentials of the seminar paper correctly and clearly in terms of content. They are the basis for the oral presentation.The set of slides must contain, among other things, a comprehensive bibliography based on the literature search carried out in libraries and on the internet.The oral presentation of the seminar paper should be given in an easily understandable, appealing and sensibly structured manner.Permanent attendance is a necessary condition for passing, but is not sufficient. Through active participation in the course in the form of questions, answers to questions and comments, students should participate in the discussion. A one-time excused absence is possible. If a participant is absent for a longer period, the seminar cannot be completed successfully.================================Grading scaleLess than 50 % or 50 % of the achievable scores: "5" (fail)
More than 50 % and less than 62.5 % or 62.5 % of the achievable scores: "4" (sufficient)

More than 75 % and less than 87.5 % or 87.5 % of the achievable scores: "2" (good)
