Assessment and permitted materials
The assessment will be based on class participation (30% of the grade) and two written
exams (30% for the midterm and 40% for the nal exam). Class participation is measured
by the performance on classroom presentations of exercises (each presentation earns a
maximum of 15%, everyone must present at least once). To earn the maximum number
of points for a presentation, the student must deliver a correct solution to the exercise,
and the presentation must be well prepared such that it is easy to follow for all fellow
students in the audience.

and exercises. It accompanies the course UK Makrooekonomie I by Prof. Monika Gehrig-
Merz. Students are recommended to take both courses at the same time. In the exercise
course, it is presumed that students are already familiar with the theoretical background
as covered by Gehrig-Merz's UK.
The topics to be covered in the exercise course include national accounting, scal and
monetary policy in the short run (IS-LM model) and in the medium run (AS-AD model),
as well as the open economy. Time permitting, we will also cover basic growth theory.
