Aims, contents and method of the course

The VK 'Organization and Human Resources' deepens the contents of the accordant EK, which is also the prerequisite for attending the course. We apply organizational theories on case studies. These case studies deal with different alternatives in coordinating economic activities (hierarchy, network, and market). Special focus is put on the organizational structure and organizational processes. Additionally, we practice the controlling in decentralized structures. Additionally, we discuss the main topics in human resource management. In any possible organizational structure, the effective use of human resources is critical to the success of the organization. The VK focuses on the areas of recruiting and human resource development.

Assessment and permitted materials

Die Endnote setzt sich aus einer Klausur, der Bearbeitung und
Präsentation einer Fallstudie, sowie aktiver Mitarbeit während des
Semesters zusammen.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The objective of this course is to impart competent knowledge in organization and human resources by practically applying the basic theoretical contents acquired in the EK.

Examination topics

Starting with a brief recapitulation of the relevant contents of the EK, the course places emphasis on student participation. Working on case studies and exercises, students practically apply and detail the basic theoretical contents acquired in the EK. Current trends in human resource management are discussed and critically reviewed. Students work on their own as well as in teams.
