To stay registered in the course, it is necessary that you attend the stream of the kick-off session on Moodle. Unexcused absences will result in deregistration from the course (online attendance obligation). Any places that become available will be allocated to students on the waiting list who were present at the preliminary meeting.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to important methods in management accounting including deviation analysis, pricing, planning and control.
Methods: theory, case studies and exercises

Assessment and permitted materials

Online discussions, one problem set, and two written exams at the university
The use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for the production of texts is only permitted if they are expressly requested by the course leader (e.g. for individual work tasks).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Mandatory presence at the online introductory meeting on March 3rd, 10:00-11:00.

4 flipped classrooms [4x4%]. In four online sessions, the lecture's content is discussed online in small groups in the presence of the course instructor. Students act as lecturers and explain the slides. Students should understand the slides for each session in advance. During the online session, it will be assigned ad-hoc who will act as a lecturer for which part. Each session will last a maximum of 90 minutes per small group.
- first flipped classroom: 07.03.2025, starting at 08:00.
- second flipped classroom: 14.03.2025, starting at 08:00.
- third flipped classroom: 28.03.2025, starting at 08:00.
- fourth flipped classroom: 04.04.2025, starting at 08:00.

First exam [30%]: 21.03.2025. You must achieve 50% of the total score to receive a positive grade.

Problem set (in Excel) [24%]: In case of similarities between submissions of students or a transfer of files between students, all of them will receive a score of 0 points for their submissions. Furthermore, for each of these students, a case will be initiated to check whether the whole course should be graded as cheated (X) in the transcript of records.

Second exam [30%]: 28.04.2025.

At least 50% of the total points are required to pass.
