Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students will become acquainted with sociological theories, concepts and research results on organizations and reflect critically on them. We will engage with the specifics of the sociological view of the company or organizations in general as well as different organizational sociological theories and their contribution to the explanation of business phenomena. The contents will be developed by the participants through reading, presentation and discussion of texts as well as through lectures by the course instructor. Afterwards, they will be deepened by the participants through application in their own empirical work.
Assessment and permitted materials
Preparation of comments on the literature, papers on the literature, conducting an empirical paper and presentation.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The assessment of the course is composed of the following criteria: Preparation and discussion of the required reading (30%), presentation on the literature (30%), essay (40%).Attendance at the first unit is mandatory. Regular active participation in the course (max. two absences) is a prerequisite for a grade. For a passing grade, all sub-units must be completed, a minimum of 51% must be achieved, and the attendance requirement must be met.
