Aims, contents and method of the course

The Healthcare Supply Chain Management seminar is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of developing and managing supply chains tailored to the specific needs of the healthcare system. The seminar begins by presenting the fundamental idea and contributions of choosing topics related to Healthcare Supply Chain Management. Students are introduced to key concepts, theories, and models within the context of healthcare, examining various supply chain strategies and practices employed by healthcare organizations. To facilitate the participants in developing the skills necessary to write a scientific paper, the seminar includes gaining expertise about current topics as well as the ability to conduct required steps such as a literature review, choosing appropriate structure and layout, and citing scientific references correctly.
Students will collaborate in pairs on a seminar topic. There will be a list of topics related to healthcare supply chain management, such as post-pandemic supply chain management, disaster relief supply chain management, and IoT and blockchain in healthcare management, from which students can express their preferences. Based on their preferences, topics will be allocated accordingly. Students will write a seminar paper, present their work, and participate in a discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

Outline presentation (10%, e.g. with PowerPoint or pdf)
Peer review and moderation of another group’s presentation (10%, peer review form, and moderation)
Final presentation and discussion of the topic (30%, e.g. with PowerPoint or pdf)
Term paper (50%, e.g. with microsoft word, overleaf, latex)
All papers will be checked for plagiarism with the program Turnitin.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

All parts of the examination must be passed individually.
For all dates attendance is mandatory.
Grading key:
4: 50% to <63%
3: 63% to <75%
2: 75% to <88%
1: 88% to 100%
