Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Subject of this course is SAP APO ¿Advanced Planning and Optimization¿ (which is part of the SAP SCM solution) with a focus on working hands-on with the system. After an introduction to SAP APO and particularly Supply Network Planning - corresponding to Master Planning in the literature ¿ and its planning methods we will interactively set up a supply chain model in a stand-alone SAP APO and perform an optimization-based planning run.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation/attendance, final test

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

After this course the participants will be able to navigate SAP software, set up a simple SAP APO Supply Network Planning model involving multi-location, multi-level supply chain processes involving procurement, production, and transportation, choose a suitable planning algorithm, and implement (at least) the SNP Optimizer for the example. Finally, different ways of analyzing the planning result are demonstrated.

Examination topics

The course includes short lectures on SAP solutions relevant to SCM and introducing SAP APO as an Advanced Planning System focusing on Supply Network Planning. The main part will be hands-on: we will model a multi-location, multi-level supply chain derived from a real implementation in the semiconductor industry and based on that the participants will have the opportunity to work on individual cases (group work).
