Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Organisations (business- as well as others) develop their specific characteristics which are perceived by their stakeholders both externally and internally. Organisational culture, structure and performance are key to organisations¿ success or otherwise in achieving their goals. Organisations are shaped by people in their respective roles and this workshop aims at enhancing an understanding of the processes involved.
Classes will be held in English; topics will be presented, discussed and reviewed with reference to specific issues, current examples, highlighting relevant courses of action.

1. Introducing terminology and concepts
Company Brand, Employer Brand, Stakeholders; Culture ¿ values, ethics, behaviour; Structure and Process; Performance ¿ motivation, icentive, reward, potential, development.

2. Culture
Determinants of ethnic/national cultures; group cultures; organisational and corporate culture; concepts of defining organisational culture; organisational culture and competitiveness; developments in organisational culture.

3. Structure
Structure and strategy; organisational structures and processes; operational, legal and fiscal aspects of structure; control, feedback and communication. Organisation design ¿ resources, tasks, responsibility, authority; organisation structure and business success.

4. Performance
Motivation at work ¿ definitions, theories and hypotheses. Performance and potential assessment.

5. Reward and Incentive
Management Pay between promise and false trails

Assessment and permitted materials

Based on participation in discussions and review of issues as well as written tests to be completed at various stages during the workshop. Attendance of all sessions is essential.
