Aims, contents and method of the course

* Introduction to design, implementation and analysis of statistical studies in medicine, natural sciences and social sciences
* Discussion of scientific studies and publications

Assessment and permitted materials

* short presentation of a biostatistical study (30%)
* written report on study including statistical analysis (20%)
* participation in class (10%)
* written exam (40%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

* Knowledge in planing empirical studies
* acquire experience in applying statistical methods
* assessment of statistical methods in scientfic publications

* presentation by lecturer and students
