Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will get acquaintance with theory and practice of screenwriting and narration in film. They will write their own screenplay during the course. This process – from the very first idea to a shooting script for a 30 minutes short film will be discussed permanently. That way students learn to professionally talk about script development and learn the criteria for creative decisions. This practical approach will be accompanied by lectures in narrative theory, dramaturgy and the history of screenwriting.

Assessment and permitted materials

A 30 pages screenplay should be the result of the course. The state of development decides the final grade.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Knowledge about theory and practice of screenwriting. Creating own experience in writing a script. Learn the terminology and criteria for creative decisions.

Lecture, practical work, discussion, one-on-one instruction, guest lecturers, role playing
