Aims, contents and method of the course

Meta modelling concepts comprise not only the selection of appropriate methods but also the syntactic and semantic specification of modelling techniques. Moreover, these techniques need to be accompanied by a proper notation as well as mechanisms and algorithms that enable the processing of created models. Lastly, the actual way of applying a certain modelling technique by means of a modelling procedure needs to be specified.
Meta modelling, due to it's flexibility and adaptability enables additional value e.g., in the context of integrated process and product modelling, workflow management, or model-based approaches.

Assessment and permitted materials

For a successfull grade in Metamodelling, students are required to score at least 50 out of 100 points. Points are awarded as follows:

* 10 Points for the written exam on Notation implementation
* 10 Points for the written exam on Algorithm implementation
* 10 Points for the written exam on Model Queries implementation
* 10 Points for the written exam on Expressions implementation
* 30 Points for the final written exam on all theoretical aspects of meta modelling
* 30 Points for the timely submission of the group project on modelling tool implementation

Besides the group implementation project, all texts and exams are individually performed by the students. In the group implementation project, students will als be graded individually.

Notenskala:
>= 87,5 sehr gut (1)
>= 75 gut (2)
>= 62,5 befriedigend (3)
>= 50 genügend (4)
< 50 nicht genügend (5)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Examination topics

This lecture is held in a mixed mode, combining theoretical lectures on several aspects of meta modelling with practical application of the theory by means of realizing a modelling tool with a meta modelling platform.

Reading list
