Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course provides a broad overview over methods and applications from the fields of bioinformatics: exakt string matching, pairwise sequence alignment, multiple sequence alignment, sequence database searching, probability of sequences , Hidden Markov Models (HMMs), moleculare structuren, phylogenie, high throughput sequencing, genome assembly, read mapping and genome analysis.

Various Parts of this course will be held in English.

Assessment and permitted materials

The grading of course will be as follows:
At the begin of each class there will be a short test about the topics of the preceding class. For each test the same number of points can be gained. To pass the course you have to gain at least 50% of the total number of achievable points.
There are no materials permitted during the tests.

Due to the weekly tests, attendance is compulsory.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

>= 87,5% sehr gut (1)
>= 75% gut (2)
>= 62,5% befriedigend (3)
>= 50% genügend (4)
< 50% nicht genügend (5)

Examination topics

Subject to the tests are all contents covered in the classes.
