Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The class will provide an introduction into law for students of computer science and will cover a range of topics from data protection law to intellectual property law and regulation of artificial intelligence. Lectures will be held in cooperation with the staff of the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law and therefore some of the lectures will be taught in English.
Most of the lectures will be recorded. However, this excludes the few short exercise sessions, which will take place at the end of certain lectures, where the students will be able to ask questions, discuss the topics covered in class with the lecturer, explore some example cases and get insights about questions and topics that can come up in the test. Information on the lectures which will include these unrecorded exercise sessions at the end of the designated lectures will be communicated to the students in advance.

Assessment and permitted materials

The exam is a written test consisting of multiple-choice questions on the topics taught in the lectures and is an open book examination. Use of a dictionary is also allowed for students whose native language is not German. Contact with others during the exam is strictly prohibited and will be considered as use of an unauthorized aid. The registrations to the exams must be done separately. See further details above under "Examination dates".

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students must acquire at least 50% of the points at the exam.
The grading scale for the exam will be:
1: at least 24,5 points.
2: at least 21 points.
3: at least 17,5 points.
