Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Goal of this lecture is to understand and be able to apply the most important concepts of modern operating systems.

The textbook is used to explain why operating systems are necessary to use computers and what services they provide to application software. In addition, students understand what security risks must be addressed by operating systems because many processes and different users simultaneously use a system with shared resources.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam at the end of the course, multiple choice and free text.

You may use any material that was provided/referenced by us and your own notes.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

theoretical knowledge about how operating systems work. The lab class (UE) is a separate class and useful to gain a deeper understanding of the topic. While it is recommended to take it, it is not a prerequisite to pass this exam (VO)
