Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course presents engineering techniques for the design and the implementation of information systems.
Goals are
- to understand advanced data management mechanisms
- to give a survey on decentralized data storage concepts
- to understand the challenges of data integration and migration
- to introduce service oriented web-based IS development
- to understand security as engineering discipline

The course comprises three main chapters:
- Data Engineering
Parallel and distributed data management techniques (replication, fragmentation, parallel execution, Map-Reduce)
Object database systems (Objectrelational and OO DBMS)
Semistructured Modelling (XML, Jason)
NoSQL database systems (MongoDB)
Data integration
- Web Engineering
Basics of the Web
Application architectures
Service Engineering (Services and protocols)
- Security Engineering
Introduction
Schemes for security services
Technical realisation
