Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this lecture, the goal is to gain expertise on the state of the art in knowledge engineering.
Therefore, students explore the relevant theory and prepare presentations on advanced topics of knowledge engineering.

The lecture covers agent systems and approaches for knowledge representation, problem solving, reasoning and planning,
handling uncertainty and learning.

The lecture will be held online.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, changes to lectures and exams (on site or online) may be necessary at short notice.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students have to write two exams and prepare a presentation about a SOTA topic in knowledge engineering as well as material for their colleagues.
The exams will contain theory questions and applied problems, based on the lectures and the student presentations.
The test will be held digitally and open-book. During the test the use of unauthorized material or communication with colleagues is not allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positive evaluation of the course, more or equal to 50% of requirements have to be fulfilled.
The grading scale is defined as follows:
>= 50% - 4
>= 62,5% - 3
>= 75% - 2
>= 87,5% - 1

Examination topics

The exam topics comprise the content presented in the lectures and the material of students' presentations.
