Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Metamodeling concepts comprise not only the selection of appropriate methods but also the syntactic and semantic specification of modeling techniques. Moreover, these techniques need to be accompanied by a proper notation as well as mechanisms and algorithms that enable the processing of created models. Lastly, the actual way of applying a certain modeling technique by means of a modeling procedure needs to be specified.

This lecture is held in a mixed mode, combining theoretical lectures on several aspects of metamodeling with practical applications of the theory by means of realizing a modeling tool with a meta modelling platform.

Assessment and permitted materials

For a successful grade in Metamodeling, students are required to score at least 50 out of 100 points. Points are awarded as follows:
* 25 Points for the written exam on theoretical foundations of metamodeling
* 25 Points for the written exam on advanced aspects of metamodeling
* 35 Points for the group project on modeling method implementation
* 15 Points for the concept of the modeling method implementation project

Besides the group implementation project, all texts and exams are individually performed by the students. In the group implementation project, students will be graded individually.

The presentations have to be given orally within the course at fixed dates.

Attendance is mandatory.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positive evaluation of the course more than 50% have to be reached at minimum. The grading scale is defined as follows:
≥50% - 63%: Genügend;
≥63% - 75%: Befriedigend;
≥75% - 87%: Gut;
≥87%: Sehr Gut

Examination topics

Topics comprise the content presented in the lectures, the topics of the exercises and the script.

Reading list

Skriptum together with further literature and tutorials on selected technical aspects of meta modeling and tool development. Besides the Skriptum students will be given references to further literature.
