Due to SARS CoV-2, this course is only available online. All organizational adjustments due to regulations in connection with the SARS CoV-2 crisis will be sent to you as a course participant by email.
The first Zoom Meeting will take place as a preliminary discussion for the course on Friday, October 22nd at 1 p.m. (punctually!) And will take about an hour.At this meeting, the content of the course will be presented as well as the final task (creation of an animation video).
Due to the fact that the majority of the participants do not speak German, the content of the course is presented in English. Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of this course is to convey advanced knowledge in the field of digital film along the thematic focal points of concept, aesthetics, technology and production. The course should enable a sharper look at the diverse manifestations of the audiovisual media. What implementation options are there - which techniques are used and how?The course includes lectures on the subject areas ‘Media Design in the Exhibition Area’, Installations ’, Corporate Media & Information Systems’, ‘Animation & Animated Film’ (each with appropriately selected examples from media practice). There are studio appointments on the subject of post-production, an overview of certain software, exercises including presentations by the students, guest lectures by experts from the fields of 'camera', 'sound recording & sound design', 'motion graphics' and' animation & animation film, music video, direction '.A central aspect of the course is its anchoring in the work practice of a media production company and the resulting insights into a wide variety of production processes. From the briefing to the idea to the concept to the presentation to the order to the production to the project completion.
Assessment and permitted materials
The assessment takes place continuously in the course of the course, based on participation and the submission and presentation of results on selected issues. The thesis is the production and design of a 2-minute cartoon or animation film on a given topic.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The aim of the course is to acquire the ability to understand, apply and further develop special concepts, models and techniques of digital film. The following are requested:
the presentation of concepts and solutions for their technical implementation for selected problems. The presentation of the concept with moods and storyboard for the final film. The presentation of the thesis: Realization and presentation of a 2-minute trick or animation film.
