Aims, contents and method of the course

This module aims to make graduates aware of the social scope, potential, responsibilities, risks and consequences of IT applications and to enable them to actively participate in developments.
Graduates are able to use social software as well as to analyze and critically reflect on its importance for people and society, its impact, its potential and opportunities.
In doing so, we will explore the following guiding questions:
1. What is social about social media?
1.1 How is the way we perceive the world changing?
1.2 How is the way we communicate and act constantly changing?
1.3 What of this is mainstream, what else exists, and what could be done very differently?
2 What can be social about computer science?

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular participation, preparation and reflection of discussions on one of the main focuses of the course, team project

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Both the work process in the course and the products of the team and individual work, to an extent of around 50% each, are used for assessment.
